OK, why is my site called day care Reno, and why should you listen to what I have to say?
You see, when new parents are looking for a child day care center here in Reno, Or if they are researching family child care or a particular care center, they will usually log in to their computer and type in: Day care Reno, or maybe Reno day care in order to locate a respectable day care center to care for their precious children. If I designed this site correctly you should have found my site pretty quickly.
I wanted you to find my website, because unlike some other websites out there, I do not own or operate a day care center of my own. I am simply an impartial consumer who inherited a couple of great school age children when I married my wife, but my older brother has a very young son, and I have a few friends that had to search quite a bit in order to find the right child care providers for their children. So many parents are hesitant to just leave their precious cargo at any day care center with who knows how many other children, so I created this website in order to help all of the parents out there that are looking for a care provider for your child.
I am certainly not here to criticize any local day care center in our area at all. Far from it, actually. My goal with this site is to recommend a few centers or providers in the Reno area for day care services, so that parents out there may be able to find a child care provider that you can feel confident about.
I also would like to help new parents out there find out what they need to look for in a day care center. Some parents may be looking for a care provider that may provide education to their children, while others may simply need some quality care for their children during a parents working hours.
Whether there is a parent out there that needs full-time day care services, or a center that will simply be able to watch their children on an as needed basis, I think this site is for you.
Many people just do not know what to do when looking for a suitable center for family child care, and this can lead to frustration for many parents. Maybe you would want to know if there is a large amount of safety at the center you are looking at. Perhaps, as parents, you do not know the benefits to placing your child in the hands of child care providers.
The goal of this website is to try and educate you on all of these things, and make a recommendation or two along the way for a local day care center here in our fine city of Reno.
When a new parent brings a precious child into the world, they usually know before the child is born whether or not they will need to use the services of a child care provider. Some parents may plan on staying at home, but due to financial reasons may need to go back to work, and use a day care center on a part-time or full-time basis.
It is important to know the licensing requirements in regards to staff members for a day care center. I will be addressing what you, as a parent, should look for when selecting a center to place your child in for day care, and what questions you should ask potential care centers in any area.
The ultimate goal of this website is to recommend local day care centers in Reno that provide quality child care and service to the area.
Reno Daycare Words of Caution!
I have to mention a word of caution:
Most people are not aware of this, but the Better Business Bureau is not a government agency that serves the best interest of the public as their name seems to imply. The BBB is actually a private “bureau” that is paid to represent businesses, by those very businesses. I don’t know about you, but that seems like a bit of a conflict of interest to me!
Talking to the staff at the center where your children will be taken care of is something that, quite frankly, every parent should do before employing the services of a child care center. Checking with the Better Business Bureau may be a possible route to check for safety records and complaints, but I would rather leave my children with a center that has a record of quality child care without paying anybody to speak for them.
Which Daycare in Reno should you choose?
If you want to find the right daycare center for your child, it will be a good idea for you to start looking early and look at some critical elements that can determine whether a place is right for you and your child or not.
You may not be able to afford the very best childcare that doesn’t mean that you can’t find a really good daycare center for your child to learn and play in.
What does it feel like?
A good day care will be a place that feels like you and your child are welcome there. If you can get names and numbers of other parents, ask them what they think of the center, or if you see any during your visit ask them their opinion of the daycare.
Chances are, a daycare center that is not making a lot of other parents happy may not be the best choice for you either.
What will your child learn at the daycare center?
Another important thing to look at will be the learning environment in the day care of your choosing. An institution where watching television all day with little or no other stimulation is not going to be a great fit for your child.
You want a good mix between playtime and healthy activities that will stimulate your child and encourage him/her to learn while in the presence of a caregiver. Watching television all day is not learning, and will not benefit you or your child.
What are the staff members like?
You will want a great mix between highly qualified and very caring when choosing a daycare provider. Watching how they act around the other children is essential in finding a child care center that provides safe, quality care for your little one.
You also want to make sure all state guidelines are being met by the institution. Ratios set forth by NAEYC will determine how many caregivers need to be present for a given number of children, according to group size and ages.
Licensing:
Ask to see the operating license for the daycare center, and be sure to check the NAEYC database (search the database here) to see if they institution has passed quality assurance. Also, check to make sure the daycare has met all health and safety requirements for your state.
You will want to choose a daycare that is right for you and your child, but there is not any one surefire way to find the best place. Using common sense and your parental instincts while searching for a good daycare will be vital to making your final decision.
In tough economic times like this, many people are having to cut back on necessary household expenses. For many though, cost-cutting their daycare needs may not be a viable option. Working parents can not simply stop taking their child to daycare while they go off to work, so what is a parent to do?
Finding A Good Day Care Provider As Prices Climb
We lead busy lives that can often keep us from our families. If you work full-time and have young children who need supervision, you may need to consider whether you can afford to hire a day care provider while you are working. Day care prices have climbed steadily for many years.
Some people find the rising costs of child care to be beyond their budget. Others choose to sacrifice their careers because the costs of day care would ultimately make their salary negligible. However, before making this decision, consider a few key factors that will have an impact.
Consider The Real Costs Of Day Care And Your Job
According to the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies, day care prices for children in preschool averages $474 a month. Care for infant and toddlers average $525 a month. This equals $5,689 and $6,301 per year, respectively.
Now, consider your salary. For example, assume your annual income is $30,000. Your spouse’s annual income is the same. Then, consider income tax, gas costs for commuting to your job, time spent on the road, drycleaning bills, etc. After taxes and other expenses are deducted from your pre-tax salary of $30,000 how much is truly left. Once you know these numbers, you can logically determine whether you can truly afford day care.
Where You Find Child Care Service Impacts Cost
You have a few options to choose from when looking for a day care provider. These options vary in price. A dedicated day care facility with a staff will likely cost more than simply hiring a state-licensed in-home nanny. Further a licensed nanny will cost more than simply having a friend care for your child. The option you choose will depend upon what level of care you want for your child.
Working Part-Time From Home
There are many opportunities to work from home. This should be considered along with your salary, expenses and day care costs. If you can earn an extra $1,000 each month (pre-tax) at home while caring for your child, that is an extra $12,000 in annual income. Knowing this and assigning numbers to the factors that will have an impact makes decision-making process easier.
The decision to pay for a day care provider and the decision of whether to sacrifice a job to save money depends on many factors, including those described above. You need to also consider the many pros and cons of staying at home to care for your child. Talk with people who have chosen to stay at home. Ask them what pros and cons they have identified. Ultimately, the decision is about your personal circumstances.

Is your child around dreaded germs at your Reno daycare provider?
For many parents these days, germs are a bad word and they will do just about anything to make sure that child doesn’t get sick from touching them. Proper hand washing techniques include washing hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds, which can be a difficult feat for children.
